Die geplante afrikanische Weihnachtsfeier in Hlobane konnte nicht stattfinden! Es hatte 3 Tage lang kräftig geregnet und so waren die Straßen zur Kirche unpassierbar geworden. Wenn einige Besucher schon bei gutem Wetter teilweise über 1,5 Stunden Fußweg zur Kirche zurücklegen, dann ist diese Strecke bei Regen nicht mehr passierbar, da auch oft Straßen oder kleine Brücken weggespült werden.
Wie schade! Dabei waren dank Eurer Hilfe noch in den letzten Tagen vor Weihnachten so viele Spenden eingegangen, dass auch inzwischen noch 21 Essenpakete für besonders bedürftige Familien zum Mitgeben zur Verfügung standen.
Aber das ist Afrika! Und wie immer gab es auch eine afrikanische Lösung.
Das geplante Weihnachtsessen wurde von Pastor Petros auf den Neujahrstag verlegt. Am Neujahrstag fand auch in unserer deutschen Gemeinde, der Johannes-Gemeinde in Berlin-Steglitz zeitgleich ein Essen statt. Viele Mitglieder der Johannes-Gemeinde befürworten und unterstützen aktiv unser Vorhaben und Ein Herz für Afrika.
Es war für Britta und mich ein unglaublich schönes Gefühl zu wissen, dass wir eigentlich in diesem Moment mit unserer gesamten Gemeinde (in Deutschland und Swasiland) dieses Essen genießen durften. Es lagen halt nur 10.000 Kilometer zwischen unseren beiden Heimatgemeinden, in denen wir uns gleichermaßen geborgen und zu Hause fühlen!
Wie die Feier in Swasiland ablief, ist auf den nachfolgenden Fotos zu sehen. Eine E-mail, die Petros an mich geschickt hat, ist am Ende der Fotos abgedruckt und sagt mehr aus, als jeder Kommentar von mir.

Hello my family
This is a great year the Lord has put us into. This year I pray that the Lord will manifest his glory upon us. HAPPY NEW AND PROSPEROUS YEAR.
Today was a great day in Hlobane. The joy that was there was overwhelming. People were so happy to get some food parcels. One old lady cried on me when I gave her that food hamper. We managed to buy food hampers for 21 people. The joy was unspeakable. When I told them where the money for hampers came from, there were so happy and they thanked God for carrying for them.
After the food hamper service we had time to feast where everybody had a full stomach and had something to take home. The people were overjoyed. This indeed was a great day at Hlobane and the weather was favourable to us.
I had an opportunity to talk about JPS (Jesus Projects Swaziland) and people are looking forward to supporting JPS since I made them realize that JPS will be helping the situation in Hlobane.
THIS WAS INDEED A GREAT DAY. I pray that the Lord will bless you in a mighty way for the gifts you did for the community of Hlobane. The bible says that "He who gives to the poor is lending to the Lord and the Lord pays a wonderful interest on your loan". PROVERBS 19:17
